Dinner with a Slice of History

October 13, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Enjoy an evening of dinner and the history of the MacRobertson Air Race as told by Cleveland historian Bill Meixner. This “Great Air Race” was an event open to all countries, and included three women from the United States. These female pilots were Ruth Nichols, Laura Ingalls and Jackie Cochran.

The intent of the race was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the State of Victoria. The race itself covered over 11,300 miles including flying over 19 countries and seven seas. The City of Melbourne Prize was $75,000 and a gold trophy.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. with presentation to follow. Tickets are $17 each or $15 for IWASM members.
